FAQ about General Labels

  • The future of the planet concerns us all, but we know that you and your clients are often at the forefront of positive change, looking to work with eco-friendly and recyclable label and packaging materials. Without losing any of the final appeal of the label, our face stock is simply recyclable as paper (what we mean here is that the addition of aluminum doesn’t change the basic state of our paper, so it can be recycled as such).

  • General labels have always been popular, and for good reason: they have a reputation for being cost effective for printing at high volumes, their production method produces minimal waste, and the application is increasingly efficient. All these factors have made general labels a ‘go-to’ for many brands today, and their use is only set to grow.

  • General labels are perfect for high volume printing. They are typically printed on roll-fed printing presses (this is where AR Metallizing comes in – we make and supply rolls of metallized paper) and the labels are printed onto these paper rolls. The labels are then cut out, and they are then often stacked, ready for application. While ‘cut and stack’ general labels can be applied to nearly any container, they are typically applied to a variety of products where the label wraps around the vessel and back onto itself, with glue applied at the point of overlap – aptly named the ‘lap’. General labels are most often found on cylindrical containers (think soup cans, for example) and they’re an attractive option for brands who want to maximize the label of their container to showcase logos, product or nutritional information and make the item stand out to consumers. General labels are also brand favorites because they can be utilized to cover up containers that consumers can sometimes see as unexciting or lacking appeal like plain aluminum cans or other types of bottle or tub.

  • First and foremost, it is a hugely attractive face stock. Naturally glossy (and of course metallic in its look) it is naturally eye-catching, and brands can leverage its appeal to convey a premium and high-value feel to their customers. Metallized paper also offers a premium quality face stock from a printing perspective – it runs as paper, is smooth, easy to work with and causes minimum delays on printing and converting infrastructure due to quality issues. Last (but certainly not least) it is fully recyclable – complementing brand and consumer desire to reduce or eliminate unnecessary plastics from packaging. From a more practical perspective for you, our metallized paper is suited to all types of ink, and it offers a surface that is ideal for interaction between the paper and ink, which gives excellent printability, high definition and text clarity.
